RESIDENT and GUEST FACULTY

Jim Lepore
JIM LEPORE is a professor of dance at George Mason University. He has instructed workshops and choreographed nationally and internationally, including a 2003 collaboration with Cuban choreographer Narciso Medina that premiered in Havana, Cuba. Certified in Laban Movement Analysis, he earned his MFA at Temple University, and since 1996 has directed study-abroad workshops in dance and music in Santiago, Cuba. Jim performed with Carolyn Carlson's La Fenice Dance/Theater (Venice) and the Jose Limòn Company (NYC).
James Martin
JAMES MARTIN is currently Associate Arts Professor and Associate Chair of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts' Dance Department where he has been a full-time faculty member since 1990. He has danced with Gus Solomons Jr., Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane and Company, Donald Byrd/The Group, and The New York Baroque Dance Company, among others. Mr. Martin has taught at many schools and festivals worldwide including the Mark Morris Monnaie Dance Group in Brussels, the Ballet Academy of Stockholm, the Dansen Hus in Copenhagen, the Université du Québec à Montréal, the Bat Dor School in Tel Aviv, the National Institute of the Arts in Taiwan, and the American Dance Festival, among others. His choreography has been produced in New York City by P.S. 122 (New Stuff), Ballet Builders/New Choreographers on Point, St. Mark's Danspace Project (Food for Thought), 92nd Street Y, and The Soho Arts Festival at Dia Center for the Arts. Mr. Martin will produce his new evening length piece, "Merce's Floor" with "Purplemartin Dance Caravan" at the Merce Cunningham Studio in June 2008. He has also been commissioned to create a new work for the Pittsburgh-based ballet company "Bodiograghy" for their 2008 season.
Paul Dennis
PAUL DENNIS received his BFA in dance from the Juilliard School and an MFA with a certificate in Arts Management from Purchase College, SUNY. A former member of the Jose Limòn Dance Company, he has also performed with Works/Laura Glenn Dance and the Jacob's Pillow Mens Dancers: The Ted Shawn Legacy. He has been in residence abroad with Dance International in Burgos, Spain, and as an adjudicator for Certamen International de Choreografia, Burgos-New York. Paul has been guest a artist/faculty at Central Connecticut State University, Amherst College, Mount Holyoke University, Ridgefield Conservatory of Dance, and Trinity College. Paul is currently on faculty at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and at The Five Colleges Dance Department. This will be Paul's second summer at the Festival.
Winifred Crumrine
WINIFRED CRUMRINE received her BA in Dance at Washington University and her MS in Kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. She was a performer and choreographer with Kanopy Dance Theatre. Winifred instructs movement education workshops and maintains a practice in therapeutic exercise with her company, Body Knowledge Inc., in Raleigh, NC. She is a licensed massage and bodywork therapist and is the head of the Therapeutic Massage Department at Wake Tech. This will be Winifred's eighteenth summer at the Festival.
Sarah Imhoff-Jones
SARAH IMHOFF-JONES received her BFA in Dance at Sam Houston State University and her MFA in Dance at the Texas Women's University. She has supplemented her dance training and performance experience for the past ten years with various somatic techniques, and has received certification in Neuromuscular and Therapy, Pilates and Yoga. Sarah joined the dance faculty at SHSU from 1998-2001 where she began working with students to enhance their dance experience through somatic training. Currently, as the owner and director of Huntsville Health and Movement, Sarah continue to develop Hatha Pilates, a technique that incorporates the flexibility of Yoga and the core strength of Pilates with multiple somatic tools. In 2007, Sarah received her certification in Thai Yoga Massage. This is Sarah's fifth summer at the Festival.
Rebecca Lazier
REBECCA LAZIER, Associate Head of Dance at Princeton University, artistic director of her own dance company, Terrain, and currently artist-in-residence at Movement Research, has been involved with WMSDF for 20 years. She performed with Works/Laura Glenn Dance, and was Festival Director and faculty from 2003-2006. She trained at the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and graduated from The Juilliard School. Terrain has performed at Danspace Project, The Kitchen, The Guggenheim, and also nationally and internationally. Residencies include the Joyce Theater Foundation, and The Yard, and funding includes the National Endowment for the Arts. She has been on faculty at UCLA, Trinity College, Wesleyan University, Muhlenberg College, University of Hartford and in Istanbul, Turkey.
Megan Williams
MEGAN WILLIAMS has been on the modern dance faculty of the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase College since 1999 and serves as assistant chair of the Conservatory's Board of Study. She is on the advisory board of DancenowNYC. She danced with the Mark Morris Dance Group from 1988-1997 and has staged Morris' work on the Boston Ballet, the Purchase Dance Corps, George Mason University and Vassar College. She danced with Laura Glenn's company from 1984-1988 during which time she was on the faculty of the White Mountain Summer Dance Festival. She is a graduate of the Juilliard School and is currently working as a solo performer.

MUSICIANS

David Sannella
DAVID SANNELLA, a musician/composer, has provided music for dance since 1978. He was the musical director for the Bill Evans Dance Company in Seattle for 5 years, and has worked with Twyla Tharp, the Martha Graham Company, and many other choreographers. He is currently providing music for dance classes at the Martha Graham School and the Alvin Ailey School, and pursuing his interest in composing music for film. This will be David's seventh year at the Festival.
Ken Ray Wilemon
KEN RAY WILEMON is a percussionist, composer and painter based in Raleigh. He has accompanied dance at Texas Christian University, University of Texas at Austin, Connecticut College, Hollins University, the American Dance Festival, and at the White Mountain Summer Dance Festival for the last eleven years. Ken Ray has appeared with Stage West, Hip Pocket and Jubilee Theaters in Ft. Worth, TX; performed with singers/songwriters Karen Tyler and Illene Weiss; periodically records with songwriter Val Davis in Vermont; recently created scores for seven dances at North Carolina State University; and is currently staff accompanist at Meredith College, Duke University and the Durham School of the Arts.

Works/LG Dance
WORKS/LAURA GLENN DANCE, in its 24th season, is known for its performing and teaching residencies throughout the United States and Europe, including major festivals in Holland, London, Paris, and New York. W/LGD has performed in NYC at the Joyce Theater, Dance Theater Workshop, St. Mark's Church and for the National Performance Network. W/LGD has been awarded grants from the NEA, NY State Council on the Arts, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, The CT Commission on the Arts, The Greater Hartford Arts Council, the NH State Council on the Arts and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. *Company members act as support staff working one-on-one with participants in technique classes.

ARTISTIC DIRECTOR and FOUNDER

Laura Glenn
LAURA GLENN has been a senior faculty member at the Juilliard School, her alma mater, for the past 18 years. She also directs and produces the Ted Hershey Dance and Music Marathon in Hartford, CT, now celebrating its 10th anniversary. As director of her own dance company, Works/Laura Glenn Dance, she has created over 35 works and is recognized internationally as a performer, choreographer, and teacher. She has also taught at Marymount Manhattan and Teacher's College, the Alvin Ailey School, Lincoln Center Institute and the Laban/Bartenieff Institute for Movement Studies, and is a Certified Movement Analyst. Over the last 20 years, she has received fellowships from the NEA, NY Foundation for the Arts, Roberts and Dance Magazine Foundations. Her performance experience includes touring extensively with teaching programs, her own solo program, as a soloist with the Limón Company (11 years) and staging Limón works in addition to the touring of her own company. As the founder of White Mountain Summer Dance Festival, Laura Glenn has seen it grow for 29 years.
